When Style Collides with Medicine

Milan is one of the top fashion capitals in the world. Most Italian fashion houses are based in Milan and their labels are known all over the world.

Think of Armani, Dolce & Gabbana, Missoni, Moncler, Moschino, Prada, Tod's, Valentino and Versace, to name but a few. Milan is the second-largest Italian city and the economic and industrial capital of Italy. Milan is also one of the leading cultural capitals in the world. The world famous “La Scala” opera house is here. The Duomo di Milano is the third largest catholic church in the world. The Church of Santa Maria della Grazie is best known for its most famous artifact: The Last Supper by Leonardo da Vinci. The city is home to two of Europe’s most successful football teams, A.C. Milan, and Inter Milan who both play at the famous San Siro Stadium. Style certainly met medicine this year.

Euroanaesthesia is recognised worldwide as one of the most important and influential annual congresses in anaesthesiology and intensive care.

Euroanaesthesia is truly an outstanding international platform to enhance knowledge, review innovative techniques, learn new guidelines, and communicate, collaborate, and network with a large international audience. This year’s Euroanaesthesia proved to be an engaging and educational congress. There were over 3,900 attendees, 108 participating societies and industry companies, 150 scientific sessions, 248 presentations and 18 learning tracks conducted by 374 speakers coming from 40 different countries. The learning tracks included general anaesthesia, neuroanaesthesiology, respiration and airway management and perioperative medicine to name but a few.

Seventy-nine companies participated in the exhibition in Milan.

This included some giants in medical equipment such as Philips, Medtronic, Getinge and Mindray. And yes we were there along with our European partner Anel. We had a simple but professional booth with exhibition panels promoting our products, lots of samples and sales literature. Colin Hannah our CEO and I worked on the booth, and it was great to have colleagues Vladimir and Doru from Anel and Katarina from our Italian distributor Medival working alongside us. Giacomo and Mariano from our Spanish distributor Bioline were also there and spent some time with us. Everyone sold our products with great enthusiasm. Selling EyePro, NoPress and BiteMe direct to customers really does invigorate your belief in these products and the value they bring to patients and anaesthetists.

Despite Covid we had over 150 delegates from forty-five countries visit our exhibition booth.

From a European perspective 102 delegates were from eighteen countries where we have a distributor presence. I am always pleased by the number and quality of the visitors to our booth. Around 90% of customers were practising anaesthetists. We all had in-depth meaningful discussions with each customer.

Many exhibitors spend a great deal of money on their booth and yet we consistently get more customers visiting us. There are a number of reasons for this. This year, as a result of Covid, there was a raised awareness that more needs to be done to protect patients and that’s exactly what our products do. Our products are also relatively small so customers can quite easily take away a few samples. Some customers can also make purchasing decisions about our products as opposed to other theatre equipment. It was also pleasing to note a number of customers commenting they already use EyePro. There was real interest in all our products across the three-day meeting.

Euroanaesthesia 2022 was a highly successful meeting for Innovgas and our products EyePro, NoPress and BiteMe.

It was a great privilege to showcase our products at a world class anaesthesia congress in one of the style capitals of the world with some fantastic colleagues from our distributor group. We left Milan knowing that EyePro, NoPress and BiteMe are truly valued by our customers and that they are helping keep patients safe during surgery in the 21st century.
